Political Campaign Intervention & Activity

ATLANTA, Ga., (May 20, 2022) --- Georgia PTA is currently aware that there are allegations that the South Gwinnett High School PTSA Vice President and Candidate for the Gwinnett County School Board District 4 used her position as the PTSA President inappropriately leading to a possible violation of the Internal Revenue Code along with State Campaign Ethics laws.

Under the Internal Revenue Code (IRC), all section 501(c)(3) organizations are absolutely prohibited from directly or indirectly participating in any political campaign on behalf of (or in opposition to) any candidate for elective public office.

To be clear, the Georgia PTA's purpose is to advocate for all children. The Georgia PTA is a nonpartisan body, and it maintains a strict adherence to IRC requirements. The Georgia PTA does not and will not support or oppose a political candidate. Accordingly, the Georgia PTA does not endorse this type of action and should these allegations be substantiated, the Georgia PTA will take steps to remedy this situation and prevent any further violations.
