Your local unit President on the pre-authorized designee may pick up 2008-2009 membership cards.  Please note the person who will pick up the membership cards on the registration form.

Discover the wide array of companies and non-profit organizations that provide services and products for you, your PTA and school. See the latest programs for all PTA priorities concerning child health, safety, fundraising, health and fitness, education and much more. Be sure to schedule time to visit the vendors who support the efforts of Georgia PTA. The exhibits will close at 2:00 o'clock and will reopen at 6:15 pm for the Great Ideas Extravaganza. Bylaws Briefing

This briefing will provide the opportunity to ask questions about the bylaws amendments that are being presented during the opening general session, why we need them and what they will accomplish.
   

9:45 am – 10:15 am

First Timers' Orientation

If this is your first state PTA convention and leadership training, attend this session to meet with other first timers' and learn what to expect.  You will learn how to get the most out of convention/leadership training, the basics of parliamentary procedure and the business process prior to attending General Session I.
   

10:30 am – 11:45 am

Workshop Session 1

Register early to guarantee the workshops of your choice. Choose from more than 60 workshops. Space is limited in some workshops so register early.  Workshops will be available for Hearing Impaired and Spanish speaking participants.

Membership Lunch-N-Learn*

Experience the dynamics of PTA Membership! While you enjoy your lunch, become empowered about PTA membership. Energetic speakers will motivate you with the power of membership. Hear about DADS and the importance of their involvement in their children's lives. Membership Awards and outstanding programs will be featured during this exciting lunch–n-learn

General Session I

Be a powerful voice in the decision making process of Georgia PTA. Attend the first general meeting of the new PTA Century to lift your voice on important issues, vote on the business of the organization that includes adopting Georgia PTA resolutions, approving bylaws amendments. Exciting entertainment, and award presentations are all apart of the first General Session. It is the responsibility of each delegate to attend and participate in all general meetings.

Great Ideas Fair and Exhibit Extravaganza**

Ever wonder, “How'd they do that”? Now is your opportunity to find out! The Great Ideas Fair and Exhibit Extravaganza, hosted by DeKalb County Council and Georgia PTA will put a kick into your programs. We begin with a high stepping band leading our way to the Exhibit Hall where you will explore a world of diverse ideas. Visit with 100 successful PTA's while they share their best ideas with you. There will be three hours of continuous student performances and culinary samples from around the world. “Great Ideas Fair and Exhibit Extravaganza” has it all, amazingly talented students from DeKalb County, foods from many different countries, games and activities and of course, the “great idea” that was highlighted and submitted in your priority– all while visiting the vendors. This will be an exciting evening of music, entertainment, food, games and lots of fun! Don't miss this event that is included in your registration fee!

Rachel's Challenge Start a Chain Reaction

Lunch-N-Learn; General Session II

Our featured speaker is Darrell Scott, the father of Rachel Scott and founder of Rachel's Challenge. Rachel Scott was the first person killed at Columbine High School on April 20, 1999, but her shining example of love and acceptance was not defeated that day. Her acts of kindness and compassion couple with the contents of her six diaries have become the foundation for one of the most life-changing programs in America, Rachel's Challenge. Join us for this very powerful message and how you “might just start a chain reaction”.

Darrell Scott will also be presenting a workshop during Session 4.  Space is limited so register early.

Learn the newest upcoming school information from your Council or District leaders during this meeting. Districts and Councils will meet either together or separately depending on their respective plans. Please watch for additional information, coming soon.

The Model PTA Reception

Attaining the Model PTA status is no mere feat. Georgia PTA plans on recognizing this momentous occasion with a special reception in your honor. The Model PTA president will join the Georgia PTA president and other dignitaries for this very special reception.

Georgia PTA Banquet and Awards Presentation

Celebrate a year of hard work and success during the Annual Banquet. Featured speakers will include Stacey DeWitt of Connect With Kids, Chuck Saylors, National PTA President Elect and Leslie Cushman, Georgia PTA President. During the banquet, the Georgia PTA 2007 Outstanding Principal, Outstanding Local Unit PTA/PTSA, Outstanding Educator, Visionary Award and the Phoebe Apperson Hearst Excellence in Education will be presented. You will want to attend this inspiring evening.

 

 

* Lunch-N-Learn: The Lunch-N-Learn will be held in one of the Salons within the GICC. Food outlets will be provided outside of the Salon. You may purchase your lunch from one of the outlets and step into the Salon and hear the presentation. Lunch-N-Learn allows all delegates the opportunity to hear featured speakers.

 

** Great Ideas Fair and Exhibit Extravaganza: You will enjoy dinner and live entertainment by local students while visiting the exhibits. Submitted priority reports chosen as a great idea will be invited to share their idea with over 1,200 delegates. This will be an amazing opportunity to network. Be a part of this extraordinary trip around the world as we celebrate the diversity in Georgia. This event is included in your registration fee.
