This message is being sent on behalf of Janice Gurley, Georgia PTA Reflections Chair:
To my PTA family: As you know, Georgia PTA has been spending countless hours with intense preparation for next month’s state Reflections Reception at the High Museum. We are so excited about all of the amazing work of art that has been shared with us by children from around the state. This is the kind of thing that brings literal tears to our eyes. I am happy to report that we have received a total of 2,118 entries!
While our minds are on this important program, unique only to the PTA, I want to formally announce a wonderful grant opportunity that can support local PTA art projects. It is National PTA’s Mary Lou Anderson Reflections Arts Enhancement Grant. Your PTA may be the winner of $1,000 in matching funds to support your art projects. This type funding can go a very long way to increase learning opportunities in the literary, media, visual and/or performing arts for at-risk or underserved audiences. Projects of this nature result in actively engaging families and community partners to strengthen family-strong partnerships. Eligibility is dependent upon “Good Standing Status,” as determined by the state PTA office. Deadline for submission of applications is: Friday, March 17, 2017. Please access pta.org/awards for application details.
I can easily foresee that Georgia PTA may very well be receiving notice from National PTA that one of our very own local PTAs has won this grant! Wishing you much success with this grant application and looking forward to seeing many of you next month.
