National PTA Male Engagement Conference - October 24th through 26th, 2014 - Atlanta, GA
This message is on behalf of Georgia PTA President, Rita Erves, and the Georgia PTA Male Involvement Committee (Reginald Forrest/Chair and Keith Lamar/Vice Chair):
We are sure that all of you as excited as we are about the upcoming National PTA Male Engagement Conference that is just around the corner from October 24-26 in Atlanta. The increasing amount of male involvement that we have seen over the past years in this state tells us that Georgia will be well represented at this Conference. We have a few reminders to share with you.
Title 1 funds can be used for this Conference because male involvement falls directly under umbrella of “Family Engagement.”
Georgia PTA will offer an enjoyable night out for winner of 2 Atlanta Hawks basketball game tickets. On Saturday, November 7 at 7:30 p.m., the winner of tickets will see Carmelo Anthony and Amar’e Stoudemire of the Knicks take on our very owns Hawks. In addition to the game itself, the winner will also receive a pass for two to enter Arena early on game night to watch team warm up. Georgia PTA will gather names of all registered for this Conference from Georgia, and winning name will be pulled at this Conference. The PTA Council with the highest number of registrants will receive two complimentary registrations to CLT 2015 AND one complimentary registration for the Male Engagement Conference.
Registration opens at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, October 24, and Conference will kick off with a reception at 6:00 p.m. A full day of fun has been planned for Saturday, and Former Ambassador for the United Nations, Andrew Young, is scheduled to deliver a keynote on this day. Although special hotel rates are offered for the Conference at the Embassy Suites (4700 Southport Road, Atlanta, GA 30337; 404-767-1988), attendees are in no way obligated to stay at the hotel. However, if you choose to stay at the hotel, it offers some very attractive features such as complimentary full course hot breakfast on Saturday and Sunday from 7:30 – 10:30 a.m. and happy hour offering drinks and snacks for guests every day from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m.
