The 2014 Georgia PTA Day at the Capitol will be held March 4, 2014. We invite all PTA members to celebrate our second century of advocacy by joining us at 8:30 a.m. at the Fulton County Government Center for a briefing on legislative issues and advocacy. Immediately following this session, we will head to the Capitol to see the legislature at work.
Invite your administrators, educators, superintendents, school board members, business partners and student leaders to attend. To ensure your seat, register early. Remember to WEAR RED!
The second highlight of the day will be lunch with the legislators at the Freight Depot beginning at 12:15 p.m. Georgia PTA has invited all of the legislators to the luncheon, however, a personal invitation from you as a constituent and “local leader” in your community will be the most effective guarantee of their attendance. Go to Capitol Watch here to contact your legislator.

As you know, the deadline for schools enrolled in the School of Excellence Program was extended until Friday, December 6th.
While the National PTA strongly encourage schools to complete their Family-School Partnership Scans by Friday, December 6th, the National PTA will not be shutting down the link for schools to complete their Family-School Partnership Scan until the end of the month for any school that may have experienced any technical difficulty with the enrollment process. If you know of any schools that will need this extra time to complete their family-school partnership scan, please notify Dr. Renee Jackson. We want to give schools ample time to complete this very important step on their road to excellence. Schools can access the School of Excellence portal at www.pta.org/excellencetools.
Thank you to many of you or other leaders who have reached out to schools enrolled in the program to encourage them to continue the next steps for completion.
Please remember to visit the state portal where you can receive updated information, milestones, and materials for the program www.pta.org/stateexcellencelibrary. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Erin Thwaites or myself, Dr. Renee Jackson at email@example.com.
We want to make sure you are all aware of the new updates regarding the School of Excellence Program. Schools have to complete the Family-School Partnership Scan to stay in the program and the deadline has been extended to December 6th. There were many schools that had some trouble getting the scan online and we didn’t want anyone to stress about getting this done by November 15th because they were not able to access. The web address to the portal is http://pta.org/excellencetools . This is for schools to submit their scan and will remain open until all schools that wish to complete the scan have had the opportunity to do so.
Schools should submit their scan online at http://pta.org/excellencetools . Once they complete their scan online, the email that enrolled their PTA into the program will receive a PDF link of their Roadmap immediately. If they don’t receive the Roadmap via email immediately, they need to check their SPAM or JUNK folder or ask the person who enrolled to check their email. Below are also some helpful links that you can use for your PTA as well.
